Rob Carpenter can not be put in one niche. He is an artist with many styles, but all carry an individualized feeling and thought that he hopes captures the viewer, drawing them into the article or story he is conveying.

Rob’s interests include children’s book illustration, editorial illustration, story board and conceptual art, and the darker but humorous side of life.

Rob has been influenced by many artists such as Edward Gorey, Chris Van Allsburg, Giger, Maurice Sendak, and his illustration professor, Bill Thomson.

Rob is also a photographer and artist of dogs. He has plenty of reference and inspiration from the nined dogs at his grandparent’s home in Western MA. They own and breed Newfoundlands. River Bear Newfoundlands.



Rob Carpenter is a graduate of Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford, CT. He received a BFA in Illustration. Two of his photographs have been used as illustrations in Jo Ann Riley’s The Newfoundland, Gentle Giant. The Newfemporium, is his distributor for three signed limited edition prints of Newfoundland dogs. The Apollionian Players, Dalton, MA own a 40’ by 17’ theatrical backdrop of Mirkwood from The Hobbit designed and painted by Rob. One of Rob’s works was copied by and for Habitat for Humanity. Rob’s works were accepted and shown in the Lenox Artisan Gallery, Lenox, MA and the Hosmer Gallery at the Forbe’s Library, Northampton, MA.
